WOW free until level 20: what meaning and what impact
We recently noted, Blizzard has upgraded its free trial of World of Warcraft. Now, it is possible to test the MMORPG for free and without time limit, up to level 20. The announcement was widely reported and some media already see the evolution towards a wow gold for sale Free to Play (even though the bo You play and pay the rest testable free version is largely constrained). The announcement anyway loud firms and financial analysts specializing in the gaming industry are questioning the motives of both the Blizzard and the effect this has on the MMO scene – and Industry Gamers relays about them. Thus, according to Michael Pachter (Wedbush Securities), the Starter Edition is part of WOW a preventive strategy to counter Blizzard Star Wars The Old Republic, BioWare MMORPG. This new offering represents a co t marginal Blizzard (no new development) and is open only to new MMO players. We know that it is precisely the target of Bioware, who intends to pursue solo RPG players to the MMO. According to the analyst those new to the MMO will have to choose between buying Star Wars or WOW and supply of WOW is attractive. Arvind Bhatia of Sterne Agee firm, offers this new test would find liked t its source in the current evolution of the MMO industry. Titles evolving into Freemium models or Free to Play are growing, the supply (quality) is more extensive and while the competition is tougher, Blizzard must be aligned. A first step is therefore to provide the basic version of WOW for free, but also the expansion The Burning Crusade (now offered to all active players). And according to the analyst, it is not surprising that Blizzard seeks to launch a new WOW expansion faster than expected. Perhaps a bit more cynical, David Cole of DFC Intelligence sees mainly the normal evolution of a Thurs age. He said WOW has reached its saturation point with a stable population [long] but does not progress much more. Beyond the qualities of MMOs today, he believes that the issue when you reach a certain level of success is that it becomes very difficult to find new people willing to try the game. And according to David Cole, the trial offer should not have a huge impact on the global base of subscribers of WOW in that there are so many more star wars credits players who may be interested and have not already tested WOW over the past six years. Each form their own opinion about the effects of this offer. Taking anyway appointment in the coming months to assess the impact of future releases of the MMO population curve of WOW and appreciate any feedback from Blizzard.
